The Haybarn is located within the Peak National Park 7 miles north of Ashbourne, between the picturesque village of Alstonefield and the hamlet of Hope, both with good pubs and only a short walk in each direction. There are beautiful walks to Dovedale, Milldale, and Wolfscote Dale only a mile or so from the barn.The National Trust’s Ilam is 3 miles away. The Manifold Valley is close by with its cycle trail and spectacular Thors Cave.
Chatsworth House, Haddon and Sudbury Halls are an easy drive away, as are Buxton with its superb Opera House, and Bakewell. Leek situated across the Moorlands nestles beneath The Roaches and is renowned for its antique shops.
The Potteries with its museums and the factory shop’s of Spode, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton are 30 minutes away by car. Likewise close by is the outstanding Churnet Valley and its heritage railway. Carsington Water, Tittesworth Reservoir and Rudyard Lake offer sailing, cycling and windsurfing. Blackbrook Zoo is nearby as are various RSPB sites.
Alton Towers is 20 minutes away for something entirely different!!
